As a result of the Qing Dynasty's demand for Thai rice, special treatment for Chinese people coming from Thailand, and encouragement of trade between Thailand and China, Chinese migration to Thailand showed a further increasing trend. In this way, the migration of Chinese people to Thailand was taking place with the connivance of the Qing Dynasty government. Additionally, the Qing Dynasty's maritime policy helped the Chinese in Thailand gain the trust of the local people. In other words, the maritime policy of the Qing Dynasty completely blocked the passage for Chinese living abroad to return to their home country. Therefore, there was no need for Thai people to look suspiciously at Chinese people who were blocked from returning to their home country and were unable to receive support from their home country. As a result, large groups of Chinese immigrants became commercial partners of the Thai people and were welcomed by the Thai people. After settling in Thailand, Chinese people married Thai women and easily assimilated into Thai society. This was the result of economic reasons and the scarcity of Chinese women in Thailand. The assimilation of Chinese people into Thai society like this served as a bridge to access mainstream Thai society. In particular, the Chinese desperately needed cooperation with the Thai royal family and nobles in relation to business management and paying taxes, which further accelerated their assimilation into Thai society.
