Regarding carbon neutrality, the cement industry is currently actively planning to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by using alternative fuels to replace coal. In particular, there is a growing interest in using waste plastics as an alternative fuel source, as they have a high calorific value compared to other wastes, and international attention on waste plastics is increasing. However, an increase in the use of waste plastics can lead to an increase in chlorine content within the rotary kiln, which can have a detrimental impact on operational safety and cement quality. Therefore, the application of chlorine bypass facilities to remove chlorine is essential. This study conducted CFD (computational fluid dynamics) analysis to enhance the performance of chlorine bypass facilities. From this work, it was shown that the performance of the facility proposed in this study was superior to that of the existing facility.
