디지털 기기와 그림책을 활용한 유아 그림책 보기의 뇌파 활성도 비교

A comparison of eeg activity during young children's reading of picture books using digital devices and paper picture books

본 연구는 디지털 기기와 그림책을 활용한 유아의 그림책 보기 활동에서 매체별 뇌파 활성도 차이를 살펴보기 위해 뇌 과학적 연구방법의 하나인 뇌파(EEG)측정을 실행하였다. 연구대상은 만 5세 유아 21명이며, 선정된 그림동화는 그림책, 스마트폰, 노트북의 세 가지 매체를 활용하여 유아에게 제시하고 뇌파측정 장비(QEEG-4 System)로 전두부 뇌파 활성반응을 측정하였다. 수집된 자료는 SPSS 22.0 프로그램을 이용하였으며, 제시된 매체에 따른 뇌파 활성도 반응의 차이를 알아보기 위해 반복처치 분산분석을 실시하였다. 분석 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 알파파의 상대파워 지수는 그림책, 스마트폰, 노트북 순으로 활성화되었으며 유의미한 차이가 있었다. 둘째, 베타파의 상대파워 지수는 노트북, 스마트폰, 그림책 순으로 활성화되었고 유의미한 차이가 있었다. 본 연구의 결과로 뉴미디어 시대에 살아가는 유아들이 일상적으로 접하게 되는 다양한 디지털 매체 이용에 따라 뇌의 생리적 반응이 달라진다는 것을 검증하였다.

This study conducted to utilized EEG measurements, one of the brain scientific research methods, to explore the differences in EEG activity to by the medium in young children’s picture books viewing activities using digital devices and paper picture books. The subjects of the study were to 21 five-year-old children, and the selected picture fairy tales were presented to infants using three media: paper picture books, smartphones, and laptops, and the frontal brain wave activity response was measured with a QEEG-4 System. The SPSS 22.0 program to was used for the data collection, and repeated treatment variance analysis was conducted to find out the difference in EEG activity response to based on the presented medium. The analysis results are as follows. First, to relative power index of to the alpha waves was to activated in the order of paper picture books, smartphones, and laptops, showing a significant difference. Second, the relative power index of beta waves was activated in the order of laptops, smartphones, and paper picture books, and there was a significant difference. The results of this study are expected to confirm that the brain's physiological response varies with the daily use of various digital media by young children in the new media era.
