Explore occupational stress perception types of firefighters in Daegu city

This study was conducted to explore the types of occupational stress perceptions of firefighters in Daegu City. For this purpose, 250 questionnaires were distributed to 10 fire departments with the cooperation of the Daegu City Fire Department, categorized into five job functions: 119 rescue, first aid, administration, fire suppression, and general situation room, and the final 210 questionnaires were used for analysis. As a result, firefighters showed differences in occupational stress perception according to job type and years of service, and the factors that caused excessive stress were job characteristics and working environment, work cooperation and human relations, and compensation and responsibility. This study is of great significance because it can serve as a basis for counseling interventions that consider the specificity and identity of the client by understanding the characteristics of firefighters and the culture of the firefighting organization.
