Sulfur species has attracted more attention due to its negative effects on the environmental and economy in gasification of carbonaceous materials. And its removal from syngas for supplying the other process such as gas turbine, fuel cell, and chemical process is one of the challenging issues in the desulfurization technologies scenario. The sulfur species in the syngas generated from gaification has the form of Carbonyl sulfide (COS) and Hydrogen sulfide (H2S) mostly. The proposed syngas desulfurization process were included COS hydrolysis, wet-H2S scrubber and impurity scrubber. The catalytic hydrolysis of COS has been considered an economic way for converting the COS into HzS that can be easily removed in comparison with COS. In this study, the catalytic performance of alumina based commercial materials were investigated for Pilot plant application.
