Background: This study was conducted to confirm how the general stress and COVID-19 stress of current college students each affect oral parafunctional habits. Methods: An online survey was conducted on 140 college students across the country for about a month from May 14, 2022. In this study, sociodemographic characteristics, oral health behavior, subjective oral health status, general stress level and COVID-19 stress level received during the last year, and the level of oral parafunctional habits during the past year after COVID-19 started were investigated. Results: As a result of multiple linear regression analysis of the effects of general stress and COVID-19 stress on oral parafunctional habits, when the general stress level increased by one unit, the level of oral parafunctional habits increased by about 0.18. A one-unit increase in COVID-19 stress level increased the level of oral parafunctional habits by about 0.4. Conclusion: The effect of college students' general stress on oral parafunctional habits was confirmed to be greater than that of COVID-19 stress. Therefore, it is necessary to consider how to reduce the frequency of oral parafunctional habits through an appropriate program that can lower the general stress level of college students. In addition, if general stress situations are flexibly controlled, it is thought that the stress of COVID-19 will be relieved and oral parafunctional habits caused by stress will be alleviated.
