Characteristic Analysis of Chlorine Bypass Dust and Washing Residues in Cement Kiln

The main components of chlorine bypass dust are calcium, alkali, and chlorine, and chlorine components need to be removed to recycle chlorine bypass dust as cement raw materials. Cement companies are conducting water washing treatment to use cement raw materials and recover KC! from chlorine bypass dust. In this study, the chemical composition, mineral properties, and microstructure of chlorine bypass dust and washing residues used in a 35,000 ton/year chlorine bypass dust washing facility were analyzed to determine the possibility of recycling chlorine bypass dust and washing residues. The chlorine content of chlorine bypass dust decreased from 23.9% to 1.4% after washing, confirming the possibility of using cement raw materials in washing residues. CaO components increased from 22.4% to 49.8%, and KzO components decreased from 25.2% to 5.45%. The average particle diameter of the water washed residue was 22.72μm, which increased significantly compared to the average particle diameter of 12.13μm of the chlorine bypass dust before washing, which was analyzed to be due to the dissolution of less than lμm chlorine compound particles contained in the chlorine bypass dust during the washing process.
