청년 암생존자의 비대면 지지집단 참여경험

Experiences of Young-Adult Cancer Survivors Participating in Online Support-Group Intervention

본 연구는 청년 암생존자의 비대면 지지집단 참여 경험을 분석하여 의료사회복지 실천 현장에서 이들을 돕는 비대면 프로그램 마련을 위한 기초 자료를 제공하고자 수행되었다. 이를 위해 비대면 지지집단에 참여한 12명의 청년 암생존자를 참여 전과 후에 각 1회, 총 2회 인터뷰하였고 수집된 자료는 주제 분석 방법으로 분석하였다. 그 결과 총 9개의 주제, 22개의 하위주제, 87개의 의미 단위를 추출하였다. 참여 전 인터뷰를 통해 도출된 주제는 ‘일상의 충격으로 일상이 궤도를 벗어나 버린 삶’, ‘공감과 공유가 사라진 고립된 섬에 갇힘’, ‘비대면이기에 넘을 수 있었던 참여의 문턱’, ‘소통과 변화를 위해 기대와 염려를 함께 안고 도전해봄’이었다. 참여 후 인터뷰를 통해 도출된 주제는 ‘멈춰 서려는 나를 잡아준 따뜻한 마음과 장치들’, ‘비대면의 연약하고 제한적 관계와 느슨하지만 따듯한 유대의 공존’, ‘자기연민과 자기몰입에서 벗어나 새로운 나를 만나기’, ‘다정한 연대를 디딤돌을 삼아 일상 회복으로 나아감’이었다. 이러한 연구결과를 토대로 청년 암생존자를 돕는 비대면 사회복지실천을 위한 함의를 제시하였다.

This study aimed to provide basic data to establish online programs for young-adult cancer survivors by analyzing their experiences while participating in online support-group interventions. Semi-structured interviews were conducted both pre- and post-intervention with 12 young-adult cancer survivors who participated in online support-group intervention. The collected data were analyzed using thematic analysis. Nine themes, 22 subthemes, and 87 semantic units were identified. Before participating in the intervention, the topics derived from the interview were “a life thrown off-track due to disruption in daily life,” “isolation on an island where empathy and sharing have disappeared,” “overcoming the threshold of participating in a program because it was online,” and “challenging oneself through both expectations and concerns for better communication and positive change.” After participating in the intervention, the topics derived from the interview were “warm hearts and supportive mechanisms that helped me draw away from giving up,” “the coexistence of fragile and limited online relationships with warm bonds of connection,” “becoming a new person by escaping from self-pity and self-absorption,” and “moving toward the recovery of daily life through warm solidarity.” Based on these findings, the implications for online social welfare practices that could help young-adult cancer survivors are presented.
