디지털 전환 시대의 개방형 혁신(Open Innovation)을 활용한 박물관의 지속 가능한 발전 방안 연구 -북경 고궁박물관 사례를 중심으로-

A Study on the Sustainable Development of Museums by Using the Open Innovation of Digital Transformation -Focused on the Case of Beijing Palace Museum-

개방형 혁신(오픈이노베이션 : Open Innovation)은 조직의 내부와 외부의 아이디어와 경험을 유기적으로 결합하여 새로운 가치를 창조하는 것을 의미한다. 여기에 아이디어를 포함한 기술과 지식 그리고 다양한 자원을 함께 활용하는 방식이다. 본 논문은 개방형 혁신의 박물관 경영 도입 필요성과 활용 방안을 알아보고 그 가능성을 진단하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 연구의 진행을 위해 중국 북경 고궁박물관의 개방형 혁신 도입 사례를 살펴보고, 검증을 위해 우리나라의 유사 사례를 분석하는 것을 그 방법으로 채택하였다. 박물관의 지속 가능한 성장과 생존을 위해서는 혁신이 필요하다. 박물관 경영의 목적은 박물관의 미션과 비전을 사회에 실현하는 것이다. 또한 박물관의 다양성(Diversity)은 사회의 여러 지식(Knowledge Diversity)과 박물관이 어떻게 연결되고 재창조되는지 설명해야 한다. 박물관의 지속 가능성(Sustainability)은 현재보다 발전된, 박물관의 가치를 대중에게 인정받을 수 있는 미래를 약속하는 것이다. 개방형 혁신은 박물관의 이러한 변화와 도전에 적합한 방향성을 제안할 수 있다.

Open Innovation means the creation of a new value combining the inside and outside ideas. Here, the technology and knowledge including the ideas are used together with diverse resources. The purpose of this study was to examine the needs and uses of the ‘Open Innovation’ museum management and thereby, discuss its feasibility. For this study, the researcher reviewed the cases of the Beijing Palace Museum that had introduced the Open Innovation museum management, and thereby, analyzed the similar cases of Korea in an effort to verify the validity of Open Innovation. Innovation is essential for a sustainable growth and survival of the museum. The goal of museum management lies in realizing the mission and vision of the museum. In addition, for the diversity of museums, it should be necessary to explain how the knowledge diversity of the society is associated with the museums to be re-created. Sustainability of museums promises their future developed more than present to be acknowledged by the people. Open innovation of such museums may well suggest the direction suitable to their changes and challenges.
