메타버스와 영유아교육: 현직교사의 인식과 교육현장 적용 탐색

Metaverse and early childhood education care: Exploring in-service teachers’ perceptions and applications in educational settings

이 연구는 영유아교사의 ‘메타버스’ 및 ‘메타버스 적용교육’에 대한 인식과 의견에 대한 분석 결과를 토대로, 영유아교육에서의 메타버스 적용 가능성을 탐색하는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 이와 같은 연구의 목적을 달성하기 위하여, 서울 및 경기지역 유치원과 어린이집에 재직하고 있는 영유아교사 112명을 대상으로 설문조사를 수행하였고, 이중 8명을 선별하여 면담을 수행하고 그 결과를 분석하였다. 분석결과, 첫째, 영유아교사들의 메타버스 및 메타버스 적용교육에 대한 인식수준은 대체적으로 낮았으나, 5-15년의 경력을 지닌 30대 교사의 경우, 상대적으로 타 집단에 비하여 높게 나타났다. 둘째, 영유아교사들이 제안하는 메타버스적용 교육은 2019 개정 누리과정의 ‘신체운동·건강’, ‘의사소통’, ‘사회관계’의 교육과정과 관련된 것으로 분석되었다. 이와 같은 결과를 바탕으로 영유아교육에서의 메타버스 적용에 대한 논의와 시사점이 제시되었다.

The purpose of this study was to explore the possibility of applying the metaverse in early childhood education and care, based on the results of the analysis of early childhood education and care teachers' perceptions and opinions about 'metaverse' and 'metaverse applied education.' To achieve this goal, a survey was conducted with 112 teachers working at kindergartens and childcare centers in Seoul and the Gyeonggi province. Among them, 8 were selected for interviews, and the results were analyzed. The analysis revealed the following: First, the level of awareness of the metaverse and metaverse application education among early childhood education and care teachers was generally low. However, for teachers in their 30s with 5-15 years of experience, it was relatively high compared to other groups. Second, the metaverse application education proposed by teachers was found to be related to the curriculum areas of 'Physical Exercise and Health,' 'Communication,' and 'Social Relations' in the 2019 revised Nuri Curriculum. Based on these results, discussions and implications were presented regarding the application of the metaverse in early childhood education and care.
