환상 그림책의 반복적 읽기과정에서의 유아의 문학적 반응연구: 백희나 그림책을 중심으로

A Study on Children’s Literary Response in the Repeated Reading of Fantasy Picture Books: Focusing on the Picture Books by Baek Hee Na

본 연구는 환상 그림책을 반복적으로 읽는 과정에서 유아들의 문학적 반응을 질적으로 살펴보는데 목적을 둔다. 연구참여자는 서울시 N구에 위치한 S병설 유치원에 재원 중인 만 5세 유아 4명이다. 참여 유아들은 2023년 11월 13일부터 12월 1일까지 다양한 준거를 토대로 선정된 백희나 그림책 4권을 일주일 간격으로 각각 3회씩 반복적 읽기를 실행하였고, 이때 문학적 반응을 연구자가 녹음, 녹화를 하였고, 수집된 자료는 반복적으로 읽어가며 비슷한 유형끼리 범주화, 재범주화 및 동료검증 과정을 거쳐서 분석하였다. 연구결과 환상 그림책을 반복적으로 읽는 과정에서 유아의 문학적 반응 범주는 Sipe(2008/2011)의 다섯 가지 범주(분석적 반응, 상호텍스트적 반응, 개인적 반응, 동화된 반응, 연행적 반응)와 새롭게 추가된 범주인 신체적 반응이 골고루 나타났다. 따라서 본 연구를 통해 유아의 문학적 이해를 돕기 위한 교수매체로 환상 그림책의 가치를 밝혀내고, 반복적으로 읽는 과정에서 유능한 독자의 기능이 잘 발휘할 수 있도록 지원하는 교사의 역할에 대한 시사점을 제시한다.

The purpose of this study was to examine in detail the literary responses of children in the process of repeatedly reading fantasy picture books. The participants were four five-year-old children who were enrolled in the S kindergarten located in N-gu, Seoul. Participating children read four fantasy picture books three times each from November 13 to December 1, 2023, and their literary responses were recorded and videotaped by the researcher. The collected data were read repeatedly and analyzed through the process of categorizing similar types, re-categorizing, and peer verification. As a result of the study, five categories of children’s literary reactions (analytic reactions, intertextual reactions, personal reactions, assimilated reactions, and performative reactions) of Sipe (2008/2011) and newly added categories, physical reactions were equally observed. Therefore, this study reveals the value of fantasy picture books as a teaching medium to help children understand literature and present implications for the role of teachers so that competent readers can function well in the repetitive reading process.
