경도 지적장애인 성인 자녀를 둔 한 어머니의 자기결정 지원 경험에 대한 내러티브 탐구

Exploring the narrative of a mother's self-determination support experience with adult child with mild intellectual disabilities

본 연구는 경도 지적장애인 성인 자녀의 자기결정 지원에 대한 어머니 경험에 대한 의미를 탐구하기 위한 것이다. 연구참여자는 경도 지적장애 성인 자녀를 둔 어머니 김소리 (가명)이며, 자료 수집 기간은 2022년 8월부터 2023년 11월까지이다. 수집된 자료는 시간성 사회성 장소를 고려하여 3차원적 내러티브 탐구 공간에서 분석하였다. 연구 결과는 첫째, 불안을 조절하며 존중과 경계설정, 희망으로 나감, 과 둘째, 사회적 편견에 맞서며 사회적 도움을 구함, 셋째, 자녀와 자기의 주체적 삶을 찾아감으로 의미화하였다. 본 연구참여자의 이야기가 지적장애 자녀를 둔 어머니들의 심리상담이나 지적장애인을 치료 현장에서 그들을 지원하는 데 활용되기를 기대한다.

This study is to explore the meaning of the mother's experience in self-determination support for adult child with mild intellectual disabilities. Participants in the study are Kim So-ri (pseudonym), a mother of adult children with mild intellectual disabilities, and the data collection period is from August 2022 to November 2023. The collected data were analyzed in a three-dimensional narrative inquiry space considering time, sociality, and place. The results of the study were meaningful as first, controlling anxiety and setting boundaries, going out to hope, and second, seeking social help against social prejudice, and third, finding independent lives with children. It is expected that the stories of participants in this study will be used to support mothers with intellectual disabilities in psychological counseling or to support them in the treatment field.
