Effects of the Clinical Practicum Program with Reinforcement Led by the Clinical Nurses on the Satisfaction with Clinical Practice and Nursing Performance of Students

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the effects of clinical practicum program with reinforcement led by clinical nurse faculty on education satisfaction and nursing performance among nursing students. Methods: This study used a non-equivalent control group pre test-post test design. The clinical practicum program with reinforcement led by clinical nurse faculty was conducted for the experimental group, and both the experimental group and the control group were measured in the form of self-report using questionnaires as pre and post surveys. The preliminary homogeneity test of general characteristics and dependent variables between the experimental group and the control group was analyzed by test, Fisher's exact test, independent t-test, mann-whitney U test and ANCOVA. Results: The experimental group showed higher satisfaction on clinical practice than the control group (t=4.00, p<.001). The experimental group showed higher in terms of frequency (t=3.89 p=.002) and quality (t=4.11, p<.001) of clinical nursing performance than the control group. Conclusion: Through this study, it was confirmed that the clinical practicum program with reinforcement led by clinical nurse faculty improved satisfaction on clinical practice and the clinical nursing performance of nursing students.
