다석 류영모 신학에 끼친 신유학의 영향

The Influence of Neo-Confucianism on Daseok Ryu Young-mo's Theology

지금까지 다석 류영모 연구는 주로 전통사상에 대한 이해를 갖춘 신학 연구자들이 주도해왔다. 이에 본고는 ‘유학 연구자의 관점’에서 신유학이 다석 신학에 어떤 영향을 끼쳤는지 규명한다. 절대자의 ‘없이 계심’, 창조에 대한 무관심, 예수의 인성 강조, 십자가 대속 불인정, 사도신경 외면 등은 류영모의 성경 해석이 신유학의 영향 하에 있다는 것을 시사한다. 그리고 본고는 논의의 과정에서 절대자의 인격성 여부에 주목한다. 인격을 갖춘 존재에 ‘없음’의 개념을 덧붙이는 것은 가능하지 않다. 신유학이 태극 앞에 ‘없음’의 개념을 덧붙일 수 있었던 것은 태극이 인격이 아니기 때문이다. 마찬가지로 류영모가 ‘없이 계신 하느님’을 이야기하는 까닭은 그가 하느님을 인격으로 받아들이지 않기 때문이다. 이를 토대로 본고는 절대자와 내재성(혹은 외재성)과의 관계 또한 밝힌다. 이는 토착화 신학이 내적 정합성을 위해 해결해야 할 중요한 쟁점을 드러내는데 기여할 것이다.

Until now, the research of Daseok Ryu Youngmo has been mainly led by theological researchers with an understanding of traditional ideas. This paper, ‘from the perspective of a Confucian researcher’, investigates how Ne0-Confucianism influenced his theology. His concept of nonexistence God, indifference to Creation, the emphasis on the character of Jesus, disapproval of the Apostles' Creed implies that his interpretation of the Bible is under the influence of Confucianism. And this paper focuses on the personality of the absolute in the process of discussion. it is not possible to add the concept of ‘nothingness’ to God existing personally. The reason why Neo-Confucianism was able to add the concept of “nothingness” in front of Taegeuk is that Taegeuk is not a personality. Likewise, the reason why Ryu Young-mo talks about “God of the existence and non-existence” is that he does not accept God as a personality. In addition, based on this, this paper examines the relationship between the absolute and internality(or externality), which will contribute to revealing the important issues that indigenous theology must solve for internal consistency.
