사회복지사의 성인지 현황과 실천: 사회복지교육을 위한 함의

Gender Sensitivity in Social Workers: Implications for Social Work Education

이 연구의 목적은 우리나라 사회복지사의 성인지 수준과 성인지 사회복지실천의 현황을 살펴보고 성인지가 사회복지실천에 주는 영향을 파악하여 사회복지교육을 위한 함의를 도출하는 것이다. 이를 위해 사회복지시설에 근무하는 사회복지사들의 성인지와 성인지 실천에 관한 온라인 질문지 조사를 하여 504명의 응답 자료에 대해 기술통계, 평균차 검정, 회귀분석을 실시하였다. 분석 결과, 전반적인 성인지 수준은 비교적 높게 나타났고, 구체적으로 여성, 30대, 이용시설, 여성․가족 영역의 사회복지사 성인지의 세부 수준들이 상대적으로 높았다. 성인지 사회복지실천의 수준 역시 양호하지만 남성, 50대 이상, 생활시설, 노인, 장애인 영역 사회복지사들이 노인과 아동, 장애인, 노숙인, 빈곤 한부모 등과의 성인지 실천에 어려움을 겪을 수 있는 것으로 가늠되었다. 나아가 사회복지사의 성인지 수준은 사회취약층 클라이언트와의 성인지 실천에 유의한 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과를 토대로 사회복지교육을 위한 함의를 제언하였다.

The purpose of this study is to assess the extent of gender sensitivity among social workers and the current status of gender-sensitive social work practices in South Korea. Additionally, the study seeks to understand the impact of gender sensitivity on social work practice to draw implications for social work education. An online survey was administered to social workers, and data from 504 respondents were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-tests, and regression analysis. The results indicated that the overall level of gender sensitivity was relatively high. Specifically, female social workers, those in their 30s, those working in non-residential facilities, and those working in the women and family sector demonstrated higher levels of gender sensitivity. While the overall level of gender-sensitive social work practice was satisfactory, challenges were identified among male social workers, those over 50, and those working in residential facilities, as well as those working in sectors serving older adults and individuals with disabilities. These groups faced difficulties in practicing gender sensitivity with older adults, children, individuals with mental and physical disabilities, people experiencing homelessness, and single parents living in poverty. Furthermore, results showed that gender sensitivity is positively associated with gender-sensitive social work practice when working with socially vulnerable clients. Based on these findings, implications for social work education were suggested.
