영화 <자산어보>에 나타난 교류교육 고찰

A Study on Alternating Education in the Movie The Book of Fish

모든 면에서 출중하게 뛰어난 사람은 드물다. 인간은 누구나 발전도상에 있으며, 그 정도에 차이가 있을 때 이를 교육의 계기로 활용하는 것은 당연하다. 특히 교육소재가 둘 이상일 때 각기 다른 영역에서 선진과 후진의 위치에 있는 사람들 간에 상구와 하화를 교대로 수행하는 교류교육을 진행할 수 있다. 교류교육은 두 교육주체가 두 가지 다른 소재에서 한 번은 제자, 또 한 번은 스승이 되는 방식으로 상구와 하화를 번갈아 경험하는 교육의 형식을 말한다. 교류교육은 교육주체의 입장에서 상구와 하화의 균형을 맞추는 통로가 된다는 점에서 매우 중요한 의의를 갖는다. 영화 <자산어보>는 이러한 교류교육의 단면을 흑백의 영상으로 담아낸 작품의 하나이다. 이 영화에서는 조선 후기 흑산도에 유배된 정약전과 그곳에서 어부로 살아가는 정창대의 만남을 그리고 있으며, 무엇보다 성리학과 해양생물지식이라는 두 소재에서 선진과 후진에 있는 두 사람 사이의 교류교육을 영화다운 생동감을 더해 박진감 있게 그려내고 있다. 본 연구는 영화 <자산어보>에 나타난 교류교육의 전개양상에 관해서 먼저 두 가지 소재를 병립하는 교육적 관계의 성립과 유지와 종결이라는 세 가지 국면으로 나누어 정리한 다음, 각 국면에서 어떤 관계적 조건을 충족해야 하는지를 살피는 방식으로 세부내용을 분석하였다.

It is rare to find someone who excels in all aspects. Humans are all in the process of development, and it is natural to utilize the differences in their development levels as an opportunity for education. In particular, when there are two or more educational materials, alternating education can be conducted between people who are in different positions of advancement and backwardness in each field. Alternating education refers to a form of education in which two educational subjects experience reciprocal teaching and learning in two different materials, taking turns being the master and the discipline. Alternating education is very important in that it provides a way for educational subjects to balance teaching and learning. The movie The Book of Fish is one of the works that captures this aspect of alternating education in black and white images. The film depicts the meeting of Jeong Yak-jeon, who was exiled to Heuksan Island in the late Joseon Dynasty, and Jeong Chang-dae, who lives there as a fisherman. Above all, the film vividly portrays the alternating education between the two people, who are advanced and backward in the two subjects of Neo-Confucianism and marine biology, with cinematic dynamism. This study examines the development of alternating education in the movie The Book of Fish by dividing it into three phases: the establishment, maintenance, and termination of educational relationships that involve two different subjects. The study then analyzes the specific details by examining the relational conditions that need to be met in each phase.
