ADHD로 진단받은 자녀를 기르는 어머니들의 삶의 여정 - 일반적 질적연구 방법의 적용 -

The Life Journey of Mothers of Children Diagnosed with ADHD - A Generic Qualitative Research Approach -

연구목적: 본 연구는 ADHD 진단받은 자녀를 둔 어머니들의 삶의 경험의 실재와 의미를 조망하고자 했다. 연구방법: 연구참여자는 자녀의 ADHD로 장기간 다학제 팀치료를 받은 경험이 있는 어머니 4명이다. 일반적 질적연구(Generic Qualitative Research) 접근에 준하여 심층면접을 수행하고 시퀀스분석과 내러티브탐구의 전략들을 활용하여 자료를 분석했다. 연구참여자의 경험이 실재하는 공간을 치료체계, 가족체계, 학교ㆍ지역사회체계로 구분하고 체계별로, 연구참여자별로 주된 상호작용 양상을 기술하고 주제를 도출했다. 연구결과: 연구참여자들의 개인적 경험과 의미는 여러 체계와의 관계성 속에서 ‘치료 대상에서 협력 관계로’ ‘가족체계의 재구조화 여정’ ‘학교ㆍ지역사회 체계와의 균형점’ ‘자기생성 및 자기교정적 유기체로서의 이동’으로 확장되었다. 결론: ADHD를 비롯한 신경발달장애 자녀를 둔 가족의 삶의 여정에 대한 강조 필요성과 체계론적 관점에 기반한 서비스 개발에 대한 시사점을 제시했다.

Objective: This study aimed to explore the lived experiences and meanings of mothers raising children diagnosed with ADHD. Methods: Participants included four mothers who had undergone long-term multidisciplinary team therapies for their children's ADHD. Following a Generic Qualitative Research (GQI) approach, in-depth interviews were conducted, and data were analyzed using sequence analysis and narrative inquiry strategies. Having divided the setting where the participants' experiences unfold into therapy systems, family systems, and school/community systems, the authors described the main interaction patterns for each system and for each participant, leading to the extraction of threads. Results: The personal experiences and meanings of the participants emerged within the relational contexts of various systems, with themes identified as “being objects of therapy to collaborative relationships”, “journeys of restructuring family systems”, “balance points with school/community systems”, and “move as self-generating and self-correcting organisms”. Conclusions: The study highlighted the importance of emphasizing the journey of life for children and families with neurodevelopmental disorders such as ADHD and provided implications for service development based on a systemic perspective.
