Medical crowdfunding on internet platforms has emerged as a vital source of funding for critically ill patients, fostering social support. However, the lack of a robust legal framework and effective regulation has led to issues such as misleading fundraising information and lack of transparency in fund usage. This article identifies three major challenges in China's medical crowdfunding: the absence of specific laws, weak platform vetting mechanisms, and insufficient oversight of fund flows. Drawing from international practices, it recommends enacting targeted laws to define platform responsibilities, creating a multi-stakeholder regulatory system to enhance credibility, and employing advanced technologies to track and visualize fund usage. These measures aim to standardize medical crowdfunding and maximize the internet's role in promoting philanthropy.
