The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of non-contact elastic band exercise on the range of neck joint movement, muscle tension, and tenderness threshold for female college students in their 20s with VDT syndrome. The subjects of the study were 30 women in their 20s who voluntarily agreed to participate. Non-contact elastic band exercise was performed for 40 minutes five times a week over a three week period. The exercise was carried out by changing the color of the band for each week, and gradually increasing the resistance using yellow in the first week, red in the second week, and green in the third week. Post-evaluation measurements were done two weeks after the intervention. For pain, VAS and NDI, which are self-assessment measures, were used. A wooden oblique angle meter (CROM) was used for the range of neck motion. For the muscle tension and pressure threshold, the upper trapezius muscle and the shoulder elevating muscle were measured, respectively, and a myoton and a pressure threshold were used. There was a significant difference in the change in pressure pain threshold between the left and right upper trapezius muscles after training. There were significant difference between the F (frequency) value, S (stiffness) value, and D (decrement) value before, after mid-evaluation, and intervention. Non-contact exercise programs using elastic bands for female college students with VDT syndrome and in their 20s increase the range of neck motion, muscle tension, and tenderness threshold. Therefore, it is expected to be more effective if non-contact complex exercise programs are implemented for a long time using elastic bands across age and gender.
