Background: Currently, physical therapists work in hospitals and other institutions and provide treatment services to patients in need of rehabilitation. This study aims to provide basic data for developing measures to strengthen ethical competencies by identifying the ethical experiences of physical therapists and analyzing ethical conflict experiences and ethical education experiences according to the type of work institution. Methods: A survey was conducted on 219 physical therapists working in medical institutions and other institutions. General characteristics were identified and the working institutions were divided into eight to investigate. In addition, in order to investigate the ethical experience of physical therapists, frequency analysis and Fisher's accuracy test were conducted after investigating whether they had experienced ethical conflict and whether they had ethical education. Results: As a result of ethical experience, 117 people (53.4%) experienced ethical conflict, and 129 people (58.9%) had received ethical education. As a result of confirming the relationship between the type of work institution and the experience of ethical conflict, the p-value was 0.895, confirming that there was no relationship between the two. As a result of confirming the relationship between the type of work institution and the experience of ethical education, the p-value was 0.218, confirming that there was no relationship between the two. Conclusion: The purpose of this study is to provide basic data for identifying the ethical experiences of physical therapists and strengthening their ethical competencies. As a result of the study, regardless of the type of work institution, they work as a physical therapist and experience various ethical conflicts, and their experience in ethics education is lower than that of other occupations. Accordingly, it is considered that not only ethical education for physical therapists, but also ethics education that reflects the situation of each working institution is necessary.
