Background: This article evaluates the Code of Ethics for Clinical Laboratory Technologists (also known as medical technologists, medical laboratory technologist, medical laboratory scientists) in Korea, Japan, Taiwan, the United States, Canada, and Australia. Methods: For the code of ethics, we utilized Google search engine and accessed websites of domestic and international clinical pathology organizations to collect data. Results: The core of Korea's Code of Ethics for Clinical Laboratory Technologists is academic research, lifelong education, rapid accuracy, infection prevention, medical volunteer, professional workers, and community spirit. This code of ethics is similar to that of Japanese, Taiwanese, American, Canadian, and Australian clinical laboratory technologists, but it is expected that personal information protection, patient respect, and team medical care should be added. The Code of Ethics for Biomedical Laboratory Scientists of the International Federation of Biomedical Laboratory Science declares obligations to the global societies, to customers, to colleagues, occupations, and other health team members as laboratory experts. The Korean Association of Medical Technologists is a organization of clinical laboratory professionals who should recognize the necessity of obligations to patients, occupations, and society in accordance with domestic and international circumstances and reflect new essential principles through revision of the ethical code or enactment of ethical guidelines. Conclusion: In order to obtain public trust in clinical laboratory technologist profession, their common principles and values should be reflected in a comprehensive code of ethics.
