유아사회정서발달 지원교육에 참여한 아버지의 경험과 변화

Experiences and transformations of fathers who received education on children's socio-emotional development support

본 연구의 목적은 유아사회정서발달을 지원하기 위한 맞춤형 아버지교육에 참여한 아버지들의 경험과 변화를 탐색하는 것이다. 본 연구에서는 아버지를 대상으로 아버지교육 요구도 조사를 실시하고, 동일연령의 자녀를 양육하고 있는 아버지로서 ‘자녀의 사회정서발달’이라는 공동의 관심사를 가진 아버지 6명을 대상으로, 7주 동안 맞춤형 아버지교육과 집단면담을 실시한 다음 이를 분석하였다. 이를 위해 아버지교육에서의 녹화 영상본, 녹음 전사본 및 아버지들의 자기 성찰지, 인터뷰 전사지를 수집하여 분석하였다. 연구 결과, 유아사회정서발달 지원교육에 참여한 아버지들은 ‘자기변화의 필요성에 대한 인정과 기대감’, ‘앎을 삶의 실제에 적용하기 위한 연습과 역할훈련’, ‘아버지-자녀 간 놀이를 통한 즐거움과 배움’, ‘아버지들 간의 교감과 동료애’를 경험하였으며, ‘아이의 마음을 읽어주려 노력하는 아버지’, ‘칭찬과 격려의 말을 어색해하지 않는 아버지’, ‘아이와 함께 놀이하는 것을 겁내지 않는 아버지’, ‘부모공동양육을 즐거워하는 아버지’로 변화되었음이 나타났다. 본 연구의 결과는 수요자인 아버지들의 요구에 따른 맞춤형 지속형 체험형 아버지 역할훈련 교육의 교육적 가치를 보여주었다는 점에서, 향후 아버지교육의 방향을 설정하기 위한 기초 정보를 제공할 수 있을 것이라 기대한다.

The purpose of this study is to examine and analyze the experience and transformation of fathers who participated in education for children's socio-emotional development. For this research, six fathers were selected as research participants, and they went through 7 weeks of education in children’s socio-emotional developmental support, including group interviews. During the study, recordings of videos, transcripts, self-reflections, and interviews of the participants from the education were collected and analyzed. The results have shown that through the education, the participants were able to ‘recognize and understand their ignorance and indifference’, ‘practice and role-play to apply the knowledge in real-life situations’ and ‘experience how father-child play serves as a channel for the children's social and emotional development’ and ‘exchange sympathy and fellowship between fathers’. In addition, the interviews and reflections have shown that the participants have transformed into fathers who try to ‘comprehend and understand their children’, are ‘not embarrassed to express praise and encouragement’, are ‘not afraid to spend time with their children’ and ‘enjoy co-parenting’. As a result, the analyses of the study have shown that the education for children's socio-emotional development support for fathers has not only helped the children's socio-emotional development but has also improved child-parent communication and relationship, furthermore, resulting in positive improvements in marital relationships through encouraging and motivating equal sacrifice to achieve actively joint parenting.
