This study was conducted to investigate the overall level of cultural inclusiveness for students in Seoul and gauge the overall effectiveness of multicultural education. The status quo of cultural inclusiveness of middle school students in Seoul was identified according to the characteristics of the subgroup, and the effect of multicultural education was examined afterward. The study used 5 ,858 students' data from the fl!St to third grades of middle school. Cross-analysis and hierarchical linear modeling was used as the research method. An attempt was made to verify how students' personal and school background relate to cultural inclusiveness and the effectiveness of multicultural education. The results showed that female students consistently scored a higher level of cultural inclusiveness than male students for all four dependent variables for cultural inclusiveness at the individual level even while controlliog other variables . Secondly, it was analyzed that students' who have foreigners nearby positively correlates with all dependent variables. At the school level, fl!St of all, schools with multicultural policies showed lower scores in the relationality score than non-policy schools. Lastly, the experience in multicultural education had a statistically significant positive effect on all dependent variables, and most of them show a substantially high beta score. Based on the research results, the effectiveness and necessity of multicultural education in schools to promote student cultural inclusiveness were reaffirmed.
