Research worldwide is increasingly focused on identifying alternative e nergy sources to replace fossil fuels. One promising area of study is the utilization of waste materials as energy sources. Among these, organic waste is particularly n oteworthy due to its substantial energy potential. However, the high moisture conten t of organic waste results in low calorific value and presents challenges such as od or and decay during transportation and storage. Thus, an efficient drying process is essential for its use as an energy source. Current methods predominantly use dir ect or indirect thermal drying, which are energy-intensive and can lead to odor emi ssion and material degradation. This study explores the characteristics and efficien cy of vacuum drying for organic waste. We utilized sewage sludge, food waste, and coffee grounds, with drying temperatures ranging from 70°C to 150°C and drying tim es from 1 to 24 hours. The experimental results indicated that vacuum drying achiev es faster drying times compared to conventional methods. Furthermore, considering energy consumption and other factors, vacuum drying proves to be a viable and eff ective method for drying organic waste.
