Plastic waste is increasing globally, especially the increased use of delivery containers has become a significant social issue after COVID-19. Therefore, the need for the eco-friendly disposal methods of Polypropylene (PP), which is the primary material used in delivery containers, is increasing. In this study, 1kg/h lab-scale bubbling fluidized bed gasifier was used for PP steam gasification at the temperature of 850°C and steam/carbon (S/C) ratio of 1.0. The use of an activated carbon (AC) bed for tar cracking and the intensification of hydrogen production was investigated. Steam gasification with AC produces product gas composed of H2, CO, CH4, and CO2 composition of 38.23, 2.4, 58.83, 0.53 vol%, respectively. The tar concentration of product gas with AC is decreased by 52.8%. It demonstrated that steam gasification with AC bed can be used for the recycling of PP wastes and the production of hydrogen-rich gas for further applications.
