개념 기반 교육과정(Concept-based Curriculum)은 학습자가 사실과 현상에 대한 탐구 과정을 통해 개념적 이해를 형성하고, 새로운 맥락에 전이하도록 이끄는 것에 강조점을 두고 있는 교육과정이다. 본 연구의 목적은 개념 기반 교육과정에 기초하여 음악과 수업 설계 방안을 탐색하는 것이며, 이를 위하여 개념 기반 교육과정의 주요 내용 및 음악교육 분야에서 개념적 접근법의 등장과 적용 과정에 대해 고찰하고, 개념 기반 수업 설계 모형을 바탕으로 음악과 수업 설계 방안을 제시하였다. 음악 개념은 음악의 구조와 원리 이해뿐 아니라 다양한 음악 활동의 근간이 되는 것으로, 음악수업에서 개념을 형성하도록 돕는 것은 매우 중요하다. 본 연구는 일반 학교 음악교육 과정에서 개념적 이해의 의미와 역할을 재고하고. 다른 교과 및 삶과 연계하여 논의를 확장한다는 점에서 중요한 의의를 지닌다.

Concept-based curriculum is a curriculum that emphasizes on leading learners to form conceptual understanding through the process of inquiry into facts and phenomena and transferring them to new contexts. The purpose of this study is to explore music class design plan based on Concept-based curriculum. For this purpose, the main contents of concept-based curriculum, the emergence and application of conceptual approach in music education field, and concept-based lesson model for music class. Music concepts are the basis of understanding the structure and principles of music and musical activities, and it is very important to help students form concepts even in music classes centered on various activities. This study is significant in that it reconsiders the meaning and role of conceptual understanding in the general school music education process and expands the discussion on connections to other subjects and life.
