The Contemporary Musical Significance of Beethoven’s Piano Sonata Op. 106 『Hammerklavier』: A Comparative Examination with 『La Hammerklavier』

본 논문은 베토벤 Op. 106『함머클라비어』의 예술적 가치와 학문적 의미를 재조명하는 것에 목적이 있다. 이를 위하여 Op. 106 『함머클라비어』에 나타나는 베토벤의 음악 어법과 특징적 요소 및 『La Hammerklavier』에 적용된‘음악적 인용’기법 등을 고찰하여 분석을 위한 근거로 삼았으며 분석 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째,『함머클라비어』의 3도체인, 네아폴리탄 조성을 비롯한 새로운 푸가양식은 고착화된 기존의 음악 양식을 변화시키는 특징적 기법들로 평가받을 수 있다. 둘째,『La Hammerklavier』는‘음악적 인용’기법을 포함하는 다양한 접근을 통하여 베토벤과 그의 작품 Op. 106 『함머클라비어』에 관한 오마주를 구현하고자 하였다. 결론적으로‘음악적 인용’기법을 토대로 한 창작은 다양한 측면에서 현대음악 작품의 영역과 범위를 확장하며, Op. 106 『함머클라비어』의 특징적 요소들은 고전시대에 국한되지 않는, 현대와의 융합을 통하여 후대 작곡가들에게 예술적 영감의 원천이 되었다는 점에서 예술적 가치와 그 의미를 찾을 수 있다. 또한 효과적인 연주를 위하여 실제적이고 기본적인 템포, 페달, 트릴을 중심으로 한 교수법 제언은 Op. 106 『함머클라비어』를 학습하는 학습자들에게 유용한 지침이 될 것이다.

This thesis aims to re-examine the artistic value and academic significance of Beethoven's Op. 106 『Hammerklavier』. To this end, this thesis adopted as its theoretical basis a review of the distinct elements and musical expressions of Op. 106 『Hammerklavier』and an analysis of musical quotation techniques applied to 『La Hammerklavier』. The analysis yields the following results. First, the novel fugue styles, including third relations and Neapolitan harmony in Op. 106『Hammerklavier』, can be evaluated as distinctive techniques that transform the established musical conventions. Second, 『La Hammerklavier』seeks to pay homage to Beethoven and his work Op. 106『Hammerklavier』through various approaches, including the technique of ‘musical quotation’. In conclusion, the creation based on the technique of ‘musical quotation’ expands the scope and domain of contemporary music compositions in various aspects, and the distinctive elements of Op. 106『Hammerklavier』serve as a source of artistic inspiration for subsequent composers, demonstrating its artistic value and significance through the fusion with modernity beyond the classical era. Additionally, practical and fundamental pedagogical suggestions focusing on tempo, pedaling, and trills for effective performance will provide valuable guidance to learners studying Op. 106『Hammerklavier』.
