생태교육 프로그램에서 나타난 소그룹 초등학습자의 생태소양 변화

The Changes on the Eco-literacy of Students in a Small Scale Primary School through Ecological Education Program

이 연구는 생태교육 프로그램을 통해 소그룹 초등학습자들의 생태소양의 변화를 알아보는 것을 목적으로 한다. STEAM 교육의 구성요소와 RSM 탐방학습모형의 측면에서 총 20차시 분량의 생태교육 프로그램을 개발하여 소그룹 초등학습자 7명이 수업에 참여하였다. 개발된 프로그램은 ‘고장의 심상지도를 활용한 고장의 모형 만들기’, ‘환경오염에 대해 알아보고, 하천 오염 모형 실험 계획하기’, ‘하천 오염 실험하기’, ‘하천 오염 실험 결과 관찰·상상하기’, ‘실제 우리 고장의 모습과 실험 모형 비교하기’, ‘전시회 자료 만들기’ 등의 6개 부분으로 구성하였으며, 2023년 평택호에서 수행하였다. 참여자들의 세 차례에 걸친 면담결과, 프로그램 참여 과정에서의 활동결과, 프로그램에 대한 소감문을 질적으로 분석하였고, 그 결과 참여자들은 지역의 생물들에 공감과 사람을 포함한 생명체를 위해 행동하려는 의지와 같은 생태적 감수성의 변화를 보여주었다. 또한 참여자들은 생태학적 상상력을 통해 주변 환경과 자신과의 관계를 형성하는 것과 생태적 감수성을 통해 삶과 환경적 이슈와 지역의 생태계를 연결 짓는 모습을 보여 주었다. 따라서 이 연구는 살아 있는 것들에 대한 공감과 존중의 측면에서 교육적으로 의미가 있으며, 이들에 대한 관찰과 상상을 통해 장소감과 생태적 감수성에 기초한 초등학교 과학 수업 연구에 도움이 될 것으로 기대한다.

We developed an ecological education program using STEAM and RSM for promoting eco-literacy. During engaging with this program, participants as the small scale primary school students showed their changes in field of eco-literacy; sensitivity, knowledge through imaginative power and emotions. Developed program consists of six parts: “making model of a region using mental map”, “making plans about experiment of imaginary water pollution”, “do experimental work of imaginary water pollution”, “seeing and imagining the results of water pollution on the region model”, “comparing experimental with authentic figure”, “making exhibition contents”. The program was implemented in Pyeongteak Lake in 2023. The program participants showed sympathy to creature of the region and willing to act for the creature including human beings. This program can be an educational treatment for promoting eco-literacy. The main points of this program are to make relations between environment and participants through ecological imaginative power and to encourage participation in regional ecosystem with life and environmental issues in an integrated manner through sensitivity about ecosystem. This program is meaningful to respect for living things and sympathy on nature through continuous experience directly or indirectly based on sense of place and sensitivity, focusing on the observation and imagination of environment and living things.
