중도입국 청소년의 진로 탐색 경험에 관한 연구: 해외 출생 외국인가정 자녀를 중심으로

A Study on the Career Exploration Experiences of Foreign born Immigrant Youth

본 연구는 부모가 모두 외국국적자인 외국인가정・중도입국 청소년들의 진로 탐색 과정과 이들이 경험하는 진로 장벽이 무엇인지 심층적으로 살펴보는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 이를 위해 국내에 체류 중인 외국인가정・중도입국 청소년 8명을 인터뷰하였다. 연구 방법으로는 Strauss & Corbin(1990)의 근거이론 분석 방법을 활용하였으며 개방 코딩을 통해 총 14개의 하위 범주와 7개의 상위 범주를 도출했다. 연구 결과를 바탕으로 다음의 결론을 제언하였다. 첫째, 중도입국 청소년이 경험하는 진로 장벽을 낮추기 위한 다각적인 지원이 필요하다. 둘째, 학교 및 지역사회의 교사, 또래 지지체계 구축, 가족 단위의 개입을 통해 진로 고민의 채널을 다각화시킬 필요가 있다. 넷째, 단순 기술 교육이 아닌 폭넓은 진로 탐색 기회를 제공하여 다양한 직업 세계를 경험하고 이해할 수 있도록 해야 한다. 이 연구는 외국인가정 자녀를 대상으로 한 진로 관련 연구가 부족한 상황 속에서 이들이 효과적으로 진로를 탐색하고 준비할 수 있도록 돕기 위한 실질적인 방안을 마련하는 데 기여할 것이다.

This study aimed to explore the career exploration and preparation processes of eight immigrant youth from foreign-born families in Korea, as well as the career barriers they encounter. Strauss & Corbin's (1990) grounded theory analysis method was used as the research method. As a result, a total of 14 sub-categories and 7 main categories were identified. Based on the research results, the following conclusions were suggested: First, multi-faceted support is needed to lower the career barriers experienced by immigrant youth. Second, it is necessary to diversify career counseling channels through the establishment of support systems involving teachers, peers, and family units in schools and communities. Third, instead of simple technical education, it is important to provide broad career exploration opportunities to allow these youths to experience and understand various professional worlds. This study aims to contribute to the development of practical measures to help immigrant youth effectively explore and prepare for their careers.
