대학생의 마음챙김 기반 수업이 공감에 미치는 영향에 관한 수업사례 연구

A Case Study on the Influence of a Mindfulness-based Course for University Students on Empathy

본 연구의 목적은 마음챙김 기반 수업을 통한 자기성찰이 공감에 미치는 영향, 마음챙김 기반 수업에 대한 대학생의 인식 및 활용 가능성을 알아보는 것이다. 이를 위하여 K대학교 마음챙김 기반 교양필수 과목 중 ‘마음이해’ 수업을 진행한 후 학습자 104명을 대상으로 설문을 실시하였고 질적 연구를 위해 소감문, 워크북 활동지, 관찰일지 등을 통해 자료를 수집하였다. 연구결과, 자기성찰 하위요인 중 공감의 인지적 요인에는 ‘자기탐색’과 ‘타인이해’가, 정서적 요인에는 ‘타인이해’가, 태도적 요인에는 ‘자기탐색’, ‘타인탐색’, ‘타인이해’가 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 학습자들은 대학에 들어와 처음으로 접하는 마음챙김 기반 교과목 ‘마음이해’ 를 통하여 현재를 자각하는 수업, ‘나’를 탐색하는 수업, 감사를 증진하는 수업으로 인식하였다. 이러한 연구 결과는 자기성찰, 공감 등 미래인재 역량 제고를 위해 마음챙김 기반 수업의 확대 필요성을 보여주는 것이라 하겠다.

This study is intended to investigate 1) the impact on empathy via self-reflection through a mindfulness-based class, and 2) university students’ perception of the mindfulness-based course and the applicability of said course. To this end, the questionnaire targeted 104 learners after progressing the “understanding of mind” class out of the mindfulness-based liberal arts education requirements at K university. For qualitative research, data were collected through review, a workbook activity sheet, and an observation diary. Among self-reflection factors, “self-exploration” and “understanding of others” appeared to influence the cognitive elements of empathy; “understanding of others” appeared to influence affective factors; and “self-exploration,” “exploration for others,” and “understanding of others.” appeared to influence attitudinal elements. The students recognized that this course was about realizing the present, about exploring “me,“ and promoting gratitude, through fostering “understanding of mind“ as a mindfulness-based curricular subject that learners experienced for the first time when entering university. n conclusion, these findings may be considered as indications of need to expand a mindfulness-based course in order to develop skills such as self-reflection, empathy, etc.
