Clear Aligner Therapy with Maxillary Arch Distalization Using Mini-Implant Anchorage

This case report describes a successful clear aligner therapy (CAT) with maxillary arch distalization using mini-implant anchorage. A 26-year-old woman whose chief complaint was crowding visited the orthodontic clinic. She exhibited full cusp Class II molar relationship on the left side and dental midline discrepancy caused by the past extraction of the maxillary left second premolar. Even though CAT with sequential distalization using two aligner sets was performed, tooth movement was not progressed as planned due to a lack of consideration of the anchorage. Afterwards, two more additional aligner sets for the maxillary arch distalization using mini-implant anchorage were performed and the treatment goal was accomplished. After 3 years of treatment, improved occlusion and smile esthetics were obtained. (Clin J Korean Assoc Orthod 2024;14(3):193-203)
