본 연구는 한국 고령자를 대상으로 자해사고자, 자해행동자, 비경험자 집단의 비자살적 자해 신념 및 우울, 충동성, 상실감을 비교하고 자해신념과 자해행동의 관계를 살펴보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 만 65세 이상의 고령자 200명을 대상으로 비자살적 자해 신념척도, 자해 행동 척도, 우울 척도, 충동성 척도, 상실감 척도를 사용하여 온라인 설문을 실시했다. SPSS 22.0을 사용하여 빈도분석, 상관분석, 다변량분석, 회귀분석을 사용하였다. 주요 결과는 첫째, 고령자들의 자해행동은 주로 자기패배적 생각으로 자 신을 괴롭히거나, 고의로 머리를 박는 행동을 사용한 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 비자살적 자해 신념 하위 요인 중 의존, 자기감 손상, 소속감, 즐거움, 도피, 자살방지 및 상실감, 부정긴급성, 우울은 자해사고자, 자해행동자 집단이 비경험자 집단보다 유의하게 높은 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 비자살적 자해 신념 중 의존신념은 우울을 통제한 후에도 자해행동을 유의하게 예측하는 것으로 나타났다. 이를 통해 고령자의 자해신념과 자해행동의 직접적 연관성을 확인하고, 고령자의 비자살적 자해에 대한 구체적인 신념 을 파악하였다. 끝으로 본 연구의 제한점과 후속 연구에 대해 논의하였다.
This study examined the beliefs surrounding nonsuicidal self-injury (NSSI), depression, impulsivity, and feelings of loss among elderly individuals categorized into three groups: those with self-injurious thoughts, those with self-injurious beaviors, and those with no experience of self-injury. An online survey was conducted using Nonsuicidal Self-Injury Beliefs Scale(NSIBS), Self-harm Inventory(SHI), short form of Geriatric Depression Scale(SGDS-K), Impulsive Behavior Scale(UPPS-P), and Sense of Loss Scale for Korean Elderly(K-SSLE). Data analysis included frequency analysis, descriptive statistics, correlation, MANOVA, and regression, all of which were performed using SPSS 22.0. The findings revealed that the most common self-injurious behaviors among the elderly were engaging in self-defeating thoughts and intentionally banging their heads. Second, significant differences were observed among the tree groups in terms of depression, sense of loss, urgency, and all NSIB subfactors except stigma and interpersonal influence. Third, dependency belief was found to be a significant predictor of self-injurious behavior even after controlling for depression. This study highlights the relationship between self-injurious behavior and underlying beliefs in Korean elderly population.
