시설 퇴소 자립과정 청소년의 관계 경험 연구: 근거이론을 중심으로

Relationship Experiences of Adolescents in the Process of Independent Living after Leaving the Facility: Based on Grounded Theory

본 연구의 목적은 시설 퇴소 자립과정 청소년의 관계 경험을 살펴보는 데 있다. 이를 위해 시설 퇴소 자립과정 청소년 10명을 대상으로 심층면담 후 근거이론 연구방법을 통해 분석하였다. 연구결과, 이들의 관계 경험에 대한 인과적 조건은 ‘폭력으로 멍듦’과 ‘기댈 수 없는 인생의 짐이 되어버린 가족’으로, 맥락적 조건은 ‘시설 양육자와의 불안정한 관계 경험’, ‘관계라 할 수 없는 관계들’, ‘낯선 공동생활의 어려움’, ‘더이상 갈 곳이 없음’으로 나타났다. 중심현상은 ‘존재적 공허감’, ‘관계에 대한 두려움’, ‘어긋나기만 하는 관계들’, ‘위태로운 끝자락에서 자신을 밀어냄’이었고, 중재적 조건은 ‘희망이라는 지향점’, ‘건강하게 세워주는 관계를 경험’, 작용/상호작용 전략은 ‘홀로서기를 연습해 나감’, ‘세상의 편견에 맞서 살아감’으로, 과정분석 결과는 ‘자립이라는 현실에서의 난관’, ‘편견을 깨고 세상으로 나옴’, ‘유연하게 버텨냄’, ‘생존을 넘어 공존’으로 도출하였다. 핵심범주는 ‘세상 가운데 홀로 서 있는 불안정을 흔들림 속에서 유연하게 버텨냄으로 중심을 잡아가며 공존으로 나아가기’로 요약할 수 있다. 이를 토대로 제언 및 실천적 함의를 제시하였다.

The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship experiences of adolescents transitioning to independence after leaving institutional care. For this purpose, in-depth interviews were conducted with 10 adolescents undergoing this transition, and the data were analyzed using grounded theory. The findings revealed several key themes: The causal conditions included 'bruising from violence' and 'a family that became a burden and could not be relied upon’. The contextual conditions included 'experience of an unstable relationship with an institutional caregiver' and ‘relations which were unable to form relationships’, ‘difficulties of unfamiliar communal living’, and ‘nowhere else to go’. The central phenomena identified were 'existential emptiness', 'fear of relationships', 'relationships that were broken', and 'pushing oneself off the precarious edge', and the mediating conditions were 'a point of hope' and 'a healthy foundation'. Action/interaction strategies involved 'practicing to stand alone' and 'living against the prejudices of the world'. The process analysis revealed themes of ‘challenges in the reality of independence', 'overcoming prejudices’ and ‘entering the world’, ‘sustaining flexibility’, and ‘coexistence beyond mere survival’. The core category was summarized as ‘moving toward coexistence by achieving balance while flexibly overcoming the instability of standing alone in the world’. Based on these findings, suggestions and practical implications of the study were discussed.
