Purpose This study aims to to develop an environmental education program using artificial intelligence to cultivate ecological citizenship of elementary school students. Method This study used a mixed research method to examine the changes in ecological citizenship of elementary school students before and after the application of the program. To this end, the ecological citizenship change of the students who applied the program was analyzed using the ecological citizenship measurement tool of elementary school students. In addition, in order to collect and analyze opinions from rich fields, qualitative data such as teachers' observation diaries, student activity sheets, and student impressions were also collected for teachers and students in the experimental class. Results In this study, an environmental education program was developed to cultivate ecological citizenship of elementary school students. In particular, in the era of artificial intelligence, an environmental education program was devised by using artificial intelligence tools and functions that are actively applied in the field of education. This program specifically set 'future environmental problems', 'fine dust', and 'food waste', which are closely related to children's lives, under the main theme of 'ecological crisis' that all ecosystem members must overcome together. And by applying this program to the class, it was possible to examine the changes in ecological citizenship of elementary school students. Conclusion Through this, the implications of this study and future research tasks are as follows. First, this program is applied to more diverse and more students to verify the suitability of the field. Second, we will seek to link the artificial intelligence used in this program with environmental education on more diverse topics. Third, we systematize verification tools that can measure changes in ecological citizenship according to various elementary school students' development stages. Fourth, we intend to derive a plan to spread this program to the field.
