영유아 교육과정에 내포된 돌봄과 교육의 통합에 대한 탐구

Exploring the integration of care and education inherent in early childhood curriculum

본 연구는 우리나라의 영유아 교육과정인 2019개정누리과정과 제4차표준보육과정을 돌봄과 교육의 통합 관점에서 고찰해보고자 하였다. 우선 교육과 돌봄의 본질적 의미와 관계를 탐색하고, 이를 기초로 2019개정누리과정과 제4차표준보육과정의 구성방향, 교육내용, 실행에서 교육과 돌봄의 통합이 어떻게 나타나는지 탐구하였다. 본 연구를 위해 2019개정누리과정과 제4차표준보육과정의 고시문과 해설서, 관련 지원자료들을 분석하여 교육과 돌봄의 통합을 분석하였다. 2019개정누리과정과 제4차표준보육과정의 구성방향은 영유아의 의사표현을 존중하고 영유아가 가장 하고 싶어 하고 좋아하는 놀이를 하면서 능동적으로 배우는 것을 추구하여 돌봄과 교육이 통합이 내포되어 있음을 발견하였다. 2019개정누리과정과 제4차표준보육과정의 영유아가 경험해야 할 내용은 영유아가 생활하고 놀이하면서 자연스럽게 자기 돌봄, 타인 돌봄, 생명·환경 돌봄, 사물·도구 돌봄, 생각 돌봄 등에 대한 경험을 내포하고 있었다. 2019개정누리과정과 제4차표준보육과정 실행에서 교사가 영유아의 의사표현을 존중하고, 표현된 요구에 적절한 지원을 하도록 하여 돌봄과 교육의 통합된 교수 실천을 제시하고 있다. 2019개정누리과정과 제4차표준보육과정에서 영유아와 교사와의 관계는 상호의존적 관계로 영유아는 돌봄과 교육을 통합적으로 경험하고 있으며 교사 역시 영유아가 보이는 반응을 통해 힘을 얻고 성장하고 있다. 이러한 탐구를 바탕으로 앞으로 영유아 교육과정에서 교육과 돌봄의 통합이 보다 더 잘 이루어질 수 있는 방안에 대해 제언하였다.

This study aimed to examine the Revised Nuri-Curriculum, the 4th Standardized Childcare Curriculum from the perspective of integrating care and education. First, it explored the essential meaning and relationship between care and education, and based on this, explored how the integration of care and education is manifested in the general framework of curriculum, educational contents, and implementation of early childhood curriculum. The Revised Nuri-Curriculum, the 4th Standardized Childcare Curriculum, the explanatory manuals, and related support materials were analyzed to explain the integrated care and education. The early childhood curriculum integrated care and education by respecting young children’s expressions and encouraging active learning, allowing them to do what they want to do and play. The curriculum was designed to enable young children to naturally experience caring for themselves, others, life and the environment, objects and tools, and ideas as they live and play. Teachers emphasized paying attention to young children, caring for their expressed needs from the children’s perspective, (not the teacher’s inferred needs), providing appropriate support, and improving the quality of care by focusing on caring-reception. The relationship between the child and the teacher is interdependent, as the teacher is empowered and nurtured by the child' s responses. In an early childhood curriculum, young children receive integrated care and education, and teachers engaged in integrated teaching practices. Based on these explorations, recommendations were made on how education and care can be better integrated into early childhood-centered curricula in the future.
