Warrior Platform: Core Capabilities, Challenges and Development Directions

이 연구는 워리어플랫폼의 5대 핵심 능력—생존성, 기동성, 치명성, 지속성, 그리고 상황 인식능력—을 중심으로 한국군의 사례를 분석하여, 현대 전장에서의 효과적인 전투원 역할 수행을 위한 전략적 방향을 제시하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 한국군은 첨단 과학기술을 통합한 워리어플랫폼을 통해 변화하는 전장 환경에 대응하고 전투원의 전투 효율성을 극대화하고자 한다. 본 연구는 우선, 워리어플랫폼의 5대 핵심 능력인 치명성, 생존성, 지속성, 기동성, 그리고 상황 인식 능력을 정의하고 이들의 발전 동향을 분석하기 위해 광범위한 문헌연구를 수행하였다. 이 과정에서 국내외 학술 논문, 국방 관련 보고서, 기술 개발 자료, 그리고 선진국의 병사체계에 관한 사례 연구 등을 참조하였다. 문헌연구를 통해 주요 목표는 각 요구 능력을 정의하고, 발전 동향을 분석하는 것이다. 본 연구는 워리어플랫폼의 발전 방향을 제시하며, 이를 통해 한국군의 전투 효율성을 극대화하고 향후 군사 전략 수립에 기여할 수 있는 중요한 기초 자료를 제공하고자 한다.

This study provides strategic insights for the Warrior Platform’s development as well as valuable data for future military planning and combat efficiency optimization. The purpose of this study is to analyze the five core capabilities of the Warrior Platform—survivability, mobility, lethality, sustainability, and situational awareness—focusing on the case of the Republic of Korea Army and to propose strategic directions for effective soldier performance in modern battlefields. The Korean military intends to increase combat efficiency and adapt to evolving battlefield environments by integrating advanced technologies into the Warrior Platform. This study first conducted an extensive literature review to define the Warrior Platform’s five core capabilities—lethality, survivability, sustainability, mobility, and situational awareness—and analyze their development trends. In this process, domestic and international academic papers, defense-related reports, technical development materials, and case studies of soldier systems in advanced countries were referenced. The primary goal of the literature review was to identify each required capability and analyze development trends. This study aims to provide strategic insights for the future development of the Warrior Platform, thereby increasing combat efficiency and serving as a critical foundation for future military strategy formulation.
