북한이탈주민의 국내 정착을 위한 억양 교정 프로그램 개발 연구

Development of Intonation Correction Program for North Korean Defectors to Settle in Korea

이 연구는 함경 방언권 출신의 북한이탈주민을 대상으로 억양 교정을 시도하여 그 효과성을 검증함으로써 한국 사회에 안정적으로 정착하고자 하는 북한이탈주민들에게 적극적인 언어적응 교육을 제공할 토대를 마련하는 데 그 목적이 있다. 본 연구에서는 북한이탈주민이 한국어의 기본 강세구 패턴 THLH와 문장 유형별 억양구 경계성조 특징을 습득하여 기존에 가지고 있던 함경 방언 억양을 개선할 수 있도록 음성분석 프로그램 Praat을 이용하여 억양 곡선을 시각적으로 제시하고, 청각적 피드백을 함께 제공하여 억양 교정을 시도하였다. 강세구 패턴, 평서문과 의문문의 억양구 경계성조, 부정문의 부정부사 음높이를 개선하기 위한 실험 문장을 설계하고 북한이탈주민 2명을 대상으로 2차에 걸쳐 억양 교정을 실시하였다. 언어 교육 전문가 3인이 5점 리커트 척도로 억양 평정한 결과 모든 문장에서 교정 전과 후의 현저한 개선이 확인되었다. 또한 억양 교정 전과 후의 억양 곡선의 양상을 확인한 결과 교정 후 측정한 억양 곡선은 시각적으로도 함경 방언의 특성보다 한국어 억양 곡선의 특성을 나타내어 억양 교정이 이루어진 것으로 판단하였다.

The purpose of this study is to provide a foundation for active language adaptation education to North Korean defectors who wish to adapt the South Korean society by correcting their intonation and then verifying the effectiveness. In this study, North Korean defectors attempt to correct their intonation by visually presenting an the intonation curve using the voice-analysis program Praat. This is performed to improve their current intonation of the Hamgyeong dialect by acquiring the basic Korean accent-pattern THLH and sentence type. An experimental text is designed to improve the tone of the stress mouth pattern, as well as the boundary tone of the intonation mouth for plain and negative texts. The intonation of two North Korean defectors are corrected. The result of intonation evaluation by three language-education experts on a 5-point recut scale indicates significan, improvement after proofreading is performed for all sentences. Additionally, the appearance of the intonation curve before and after intonation correction shows, that the characteristics of the Korean intonation curve, instead of those of the Hamgyeong dialect, are visually presented.
