This study is to investigate mothers’ childhood play experience, their level of leisure satisfaction, and the influence of these two variables on mother-child interaction. Data were collected from 173 mothers of children aged 3-5 years old attending early childhood education institutions in Seoul and Gyeonggi province, and analyzed using SPSS 25.0. The results showed that mothers participated in outdoor and dynamic play during childhood, experienced sufficient playtime with less structured toys, and engaged in a high proportion of group play in a leading role. The recent level of leisure satisfaction was high. Second, the proportion of play compared to learning during the mothers’ childhood, their experience of group play in a leading role, and their level of leisure satisfaction had a significant positive correlation with mother-child interaction. Third, the mothers’ childhood play experience and leisure satisfaction had a significant impact on mother-child interaction. This study emphasizes the importance of supporting a child’s active participation in play, demonstrating that sufficient play experiences and improved leisure quality in childhood positively impact interactions with their own children.
