[특별기고] 박물관교육을 통한 물관교육을 통한 지역사회 탐구 철박물관 참여공동체 박물관 참여공동체 프로젝트를 중심으로

본 연구는 인구 10만 미만의 지역, 충청북도 음성군에 자리한 철박물관 교육의 현재를 통해 박물관과 지역사회(공동체)와의 관련성을 탐구한다. 최근 고령화, 저출산이라는 세계적인 현상 속에서 음성군은 인구감소, 구성원의 변화 등에 직면하고 있다. 철박물관은 이러한 상황을 직시하고 더 다양한 지역사회 구성원이 참여할 수 있는 교육의 새로운 모델‘중단기 프로젝트형’을 제시하고 실천하고 있다. 따라서 철박물관에서 운영하는 프로젝트의 현재를 분석하기 위해 2023년 9월부터 2024년 5월 현재까지 박물관교육이 어떻게 운영되고 있는지, 박물관교육은 지역사회에 어떤 변화를 불러오고 있는지, 앞으로 지역사회(공동체)를 위한 박물관교육은 어떻게 전개되어야 하는지를 연구 문제로 설정하고 접근했다. 이를 위해 프로젝트 ‘철박물관 여기에서’의 설계과정과 활동 내용을 검토하고, 참여자 조사(설문, 참여관찰), 보고서, 회의록, 스터디(구성원의 정기적인 모임) 등에서 발견한 운영진의 메타담론을 분석하였다. 이를 통해 박물관교육이 지역사회에 미치는 영향을 살펴보고, 향후 박물관교육의 과제에 대해 논의하였다. 본 연구는 박물관과 참여자와의 지속적인 관계맺기의 중요성을 확인하고 박물관 구성원의 부족한 역량을 발견하고 보완해 나가는 과정에서 박물관교육은 작동하고 있었다. 가장 중요한 것은 지역(사회)의 이슈를 논의할 수 있는 장(場)으로써 박물관을 기대하며 그 접점에 박물관교육이 있다는 것이다. 따라서 철박물관 내부 구성원의 박물관화에 대한 의미와 철박물관에서 제시하고 있는‘참여공동체’, ‘지역공동체’, ‘협력공동체’가 서로 연결되어 작동하고 있음을 확인할 수 있었다.

This study explores the relationship with the community through the current state of education at the Iron Museum in Eumseong, Chungcheongbuk-do, a small city with a population of less than 100,000. The region where the Iron Museum is currently facing crises such as aging, a low birth rate, thus causing population decline. The Iron Museum is facing this situation and proposing and implementing a new model of education, ‘mid- to short-term project type,’ in which more diverse members of the community can participate. Through an analysis of the current status of museum education through the “Participatory Community Project” operated by the Iron Museum, changes brought to the local community and future tasks of museum education were discussed. Museum education is about changes in the Iron Museum created by participants,. This study confirmed that the ‘participatory community’, ‘local community’, and ‘cooperative community’ proposed by the museum are interconnected and operative, and the implementation of museum education itself is a research process and a process of exploring the museum communities. Through the implementation of the project, future practicable tasks for museum education were derived through findings and reflections in the musealisation process of internal museum staff.
