본 연구의 목적은 A. A. Milne의 를 중심으로 어린이를 위한 철학교육적 의의를 살펴보는 것이다. 아동문학의 고전이라 일컬어지는시리즈를 연구대상으로 하여, 의인화된 등장인물들의 대화 속에 함축되어 있는 철학적 사고의 단초를 발견하고, 확인된 사고내용을 근거로 하여 어린이를 위한 철학교육의 목적과의 관련을 살피며, 방법적 측면에서 어린이와의 대화 및 토론에 활용할 수 있는 철학적 질문의 유형별 실례를 찾아보는 것이 본 연구의 구체적인 목표이다.
This study is to analyze the meaning of an approach of Philosophy for Children to A. A. Milne`s Winnie- the-Pooh and The House At Pooh Corner. Winnie- the-Pooh is told one of classics in children`s literature. There is a start point of doing philosophy and philosophical thinking in dialogues of animated characters in 2 books. Those dialogues can help to accomplish the aims of Philosophy for Children, such as improvement of reasoning ability, development of creativity, per sonal and interpersonal growth, development of ethical understanding, and development of th ability to find meaning in experience. And characters`s questions and thinking skills appeared in 2 books shows us how and what to teach children and make them think. Those questions and thinking skills are related to eliciting views or opinions, helping clarification and restatement, explicating views, interpretation, seeking consistency, requestioning definitions, searching for assumptions, indicating fallacies, requesting reasons, asking them to say how they know, and eliciting and examining alternatives. In conclusion, Winnie- the-Pooh and The House At Pooh Corner are good educational materials of Philosophy for Children. It needs to analyze them deeply and broadly in various points, ie. in several philosophical trends, in aspects of children`s literature, etc.
