「무지개 물고기」 시리즈에 나타난 또래갈등 고찰

A Study on Types of Peer Conflict in 「Rainbow Fish」series

본 연구는 그림책 「무지개 물고기」시리즈를 대상으로 하여 등장인물간의 또래 갈등과 갈등 해결을 위한 방법을 고찰하였다. 그림책에는 소유갈등, 영역 또는 공간갈등, 힘겨루기 갈등, 놀이 개입 갈등, 생각·사실·정보의 불일치에 대한 갈등이 나타나있다. 그림책에 제시된 갈등해결은 감정이입을 통한 배려, 주변인의 조언과 대화 및 의사소통 시도, 대안 모색과 직접 확인, 그리고 기타 친사회적 행동 등으로 성취된다. 어린이교육을 담당하는 교사와 부모는 「무지개 물고기」 시리즈를 활용하여 어린이로 하여금 발생 가능한 갈등유형을 이해하고, 갈등해결방법을 모색할 수 있도록 간접체험의 기회를 제공할 수 있을 것이다.

This study is to analyze the types of peer conflict and to inquiry the problem solving methods of conflict described in Rainbow Fish . Rainbow Fish series are written by Marcus Pfister, a picture book writer and illustrator from Swiss. His works describe different cultures and customs, ecological environment of life, thinking styles, and various traditions. Especially, Rainbow Fish series include and emphasize the factors of pro-social behavior between peer groups, for example, respect to and caring for others, and good relationship in a community. Thus, this study inquiry the problem solving methods of peer conflict There are 4 types of peer conflict in Rainbow Fish series. Those are conflicts of 'Possession', 'Entry of play', 'Compete of power', and 'Discord about concept, fact, and information'. Marcus Pfister describe conflicts which one part takes the other by force but the other don't want it, which one rules the other by power but the other deny it, which someone try to enter a play group but they refuse it, and which each other have different cords about concepts, facts, and information but don't accept them. Characters in his works solve the problems of conflict by pro-social behaviors, such as sharing, helping, negotiating, compromising, and cooperating. In conclusion, Rainbow Fish series are able to take part in educational materials for early childhood education. The series show conflicts between peers, pro-social behaviors to make good relationship in peer groups, and concrete methods of problem solving.
