독서 관련 유튜브 방송의 자막 특성 연구

A Study on the Subtitle of Reading-related YouTube Broadcasts

본고에서는 변화하는 미디어 환경에서 아동 독자의 종이책에 대한 독서 행위를 촉진시키는 방안을 모색하고자, 아동 독서 관련 유튜브 방송을 중심으로 하여 방송에서 사용하는 자막의 기능을 종합적으로 분석하고 아동의 실제 독서 행위에 자막이 어떠한 영향을 미치는지 종합적으로 고찰하였다. 그 결과, 아동 독서 관련 유튜브 방송 속의 자막은 핵심 내용을 전달하고 해석의 틀을 제시하며 시각적 즐거움과 몰입을 강화하고 종이책에 대한 관심을 유발하는 기능이 있으며, 이는 아동 독자의 독서 동기를 증진시키고 독서를 지속시키며 독서 행위를 사회적으로 확장시키는 하나의 요인이 될 수 있음을 확인하였다. 자막이 일종의 비계(scaffolding)로써 아동의 독서 행위를 효율적으로 이끄는 조력자의 역할을 수행하고 있다는 본고의 결과는, 전통적인 종이책을 읽는 독서 행위와 끊임 없이 변화하는 미디어 환경과의 다양한 상호작용에 대한 연구가 필요함을 시사한다.

This study aimed to find ways to promote children"s reading behavior in a changing media environment. To this end, we analyzed the characteristics of the subtitles in YouTube contents that deal with child reading. and then contemplated how these characteristics affect the reading behavior of children. As a result, new value and utility of subtitles that interact with the reading process was found. Subtitles in YouTube children"s reading contents have the function to present the main idea, the function to present a framework for interpretation, the function to induce visual interest and engagement and, the function to induce interest in paperbooks. These functions of subtitles are factors that induce the reading motivationchild of children and make them continue their reading, and expand their reading behavior socially. These results suggest that it is necessary to study the various interactions between the reading behavior related to traditional paper books and the constantly changing media environment.
