국내 글자그림책의 특성 분석

Characteristic Analysis of alphabet Books published in Korea

본 연구는 국내에 출판된 글자그림책의 특성을 분석하여 글자그림책의 활용에 대한 기초자료를 제공하는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 국내에서 출판된 글자그림책 67권을 선정하여 글자 그림책에서 한글 관련 정보를 제공하기 위해 제시하는 글자 단위와 대응단어의 품사 그리고 글자 그림책 유형을 분석하였다. 분석결과는 다음과 같다. 글자 그림책에서 제시하는 글자 정보 단위는 ㄱ, ㄴ, ㄷ과 같은 낱글자와 가, 나, 다와 같은 글자 단위로 구분되었다. 글자그림책에서 소개하는 제시글자의 사용 예로 제공되는 대응단어의 품사는 명사 이외에도 동사, 형용사, 부사, 감탄사 등 다양한 것으로 나타났다. 글자그림책의 유형은 놀이를 의도하는 책, 이야기가 있는 책, 하나의 주제로 연결된 책, 글자정보제공에 치중한 책, 그래픽의 성격이 두드러지는 책과 같이 다양하게 나타났다. 본 연구결과는 글자 그림책이 한글 관련 글자 정보 이외에도 어휘발달 그리고 책 읽기에 대한 즐거움을 제공하고 있음을 보여준다.

The purpose of this study was to analyze the characteristics of alphabet books published in Korea and provide basic data on the use of alphabet books in the field of early childhood education. Sixty-seven picture books published in Korea were selected for the purpose of this research. This study analyzed the letter units, parts-of-speech of the corresponding words, and types of alphabet books, which are presented to provide information related to Hangeul in alphabet books. The analysis results are as follows. The letter information unit presented in the alphabet books was divided into single letters such as ㄱ, ㄴ, and ㄷ and letter units such as 가, 나, and 다. The parts-of-speech of the corresponding words provided as examples of the use of the presented letters introduced in the alphabet books were found to be diverse, such as verbs, adjectives, adverbs, exclamations, and nouns. The types of alphabet books were varied, such as books intended for play/games, Narrative books, books on a single topic/subject, books focused on providing letter information, and books in which the character of the graphic stands out. The results of this study show that alphabet books provide not only information about Hangeul, but also vocabulary development and enjoyment from reading the books.
