유아 우수환경도서에 나타난 비인간과 인간의 '공동의 세계(common world)' 탐색 : 신유물론적 관점에서

Exploring the “Common World” of Humans and Non-Humans in Environmental Picture Book Contest Winners : from a new materialism perspective

본 연구는 비인간과 인간의 행위성(agency)과 얽힘(association)을 중심으로 유아용 우수환경도서에 나타난 ‘공동의 세계(common world)’를 신유물론적 관점에서 분석하였다. 분석절차는 본텍스트와 주변텍스트를 순환적 반복읽기, 비인간과 인간의 행위성을 추적, 인간과 비인간의 집합적 관계 연결망을 구축, 연결망 데이터와 그림책을 횡단적으로 읽기의 과정을 통해 ‘공동의 세계’ 담론을 종합적으로 분석하였다. 결과로는 ‘공동의 세계’가 ‘비인간(비/생물체)의 행위성을 통해 드러난 수평적 공존’, ‘인간과 비인간 복합적 행위자(hybrid actant)의 파괴적 영향력’, ‘응답할 수 있는 능력(response-ability)을 소유한 세계시민으로의 초대’로 나타났다. 논의 및 결론으로 첫째, 비인간의 행위성과 복합적 행위자(hybrid actant)를 통해 유아문학에 나타난 비인간 혹은 의인화된 비인간 캐릭터의 문학적 의미와 역할을 새롭게 발견하였고, 둘째, 유아문학을 통해 응답할 수 있는 능력(response-ability)을 소유한 세계시민으로의 초대에 반응할 기회를 얻을 수 있었고, 마지막으로 신유물론적 관점에서 분석대상에 나타난 담론의 제한점을 제시하였다.

This study analyzed the 'common world' that appeared in Environmental Picture Book Contest Winners for children from a new materialist perspective, focusing on the agency and association of non-humans and humans. The analysis procedure consisted of reading the main text and surrounding texts cyclically, tracing non-human and human behaviors, building a network of collective relationships between humans and non-humans, and transversally reading network data and picture books. The ‘common world’ discourse was comprehensively analyzed. The results showed that ‘common world’ is represented as ‘horizontal coexistence revealed through non-human (non/living) agency’, ‘destructive influences of human and non-human hybrid actant’, ‘response-ability as an invitation to global citizens’. The discussion and conclusion are as follows: First, the literary meaning and role of non-human or anthropomorphic non-human characters in children’s literature were newly discovered through non-human agencies and hybrid actants, and second, the opportunity to respond to be global citizens possessing response-ability was presented. Third, the limitations of the discourse presented in the analysis from a new materialism perspective were described.
