한국 H 서예 동아리에서의 문화 간 교류와 문화 적응 : 중국 유학생의 관찰과 체험

Cross-Cultural Interaction and Cultural Adaptation in the H Calligraphy Club in Korea Observations and Experiences of a Chinese Student

본 연구는 문화기술지 연구 방법을 통해 한 중국 유학생이 한국 H 서예 동아리에서 겪은 문화 간 교류 경험을 탐구하며, 서예가 문화 간 교류의 도구로써 가지는 독특한 가치와 의미를 밝히고자 하였다. 연구자 A는 중국에서 서예 전공 교육을 받은 후 한국으로 와서 응용미술 교육을 연구하게 되었다. 연구자 A는 H 서예 동아리 활동에 참여하면서 문화 충격을 경험하고, 점차 적응과 융합의 과정을 겪었다. 연구 결과는 ‘문화 충격과 역캡슐화’, ‘서예의 현지화’, ‘의식적·무의식적 문화 간 교류’의 세 가지 주제로 요약할 수 있다. 첫째, 연구자 A는 초기 관찰에서 중국 서예에 대한 배경과 인식을 바탕으로 한국의 한자 서예를 단순히 중국 서예의 연장선으로 여겼다. 그러나 동아리 구성원들과의 심층 인터뷰와 참여 관찰을 통해, 그는 한국 서예의 독창성과 현지화된 특성, 그리고 문화 간 교류의 현상을 점차 인식하게 되었다. 연구자 A의 관찰은 H 서예 동아리가 문화교류의 플랫폼으로 기능하며, 현대 사회에서 피할 수 없는 문화적 상호작용을 보여준다는 것을 밝혔다. 본 연구는 H 서예 동아리에 대한 심층적인 관찰과 인터뷰, 연구자 A의 문화 간 적응 과정을 결합하여, 서예가 현대의 문화 간 교류에서 지니는 잠재적인 의미를 드러내었으며, 향후 문화 간 연구에 새로운 시각과 이론적 참조를 제공하였다.

This study uses ethnography to explore the cross-cultural exchange experiences of a Chinese student in the Korean H Calligraphy Club, emphasizing the unique role of calligraphy in cross-cultural interaction. Researcher A, with a background in Chinese calligraphy, came to Korea for advanced studies in applied art education. Through active participation in the H Calligraphy Club, he experienced cultural shock and gradually adapted to the new environment. The study’s findings are organized into three themes: Cultural Shock and Decapsulation, Localization of Calligraphy, and Conscious and Unconscious Cross-Cultural Interaction. Initially, Researcher A saw Korean Chinese-character calligraphy as an extension of Chinese calligraphy. However, through interviews and observations, he recognized the originality and localization of Korean calligraphy and its role in cultural exchange. This study reveals how the H Calligraphy Club serves as a platform for cultural interaction, highlighting the dynamics of contemporary cultural exchange and providing insights for future cross-cultural research.
