교직 적·인성 검사와 정신건강문제와의 관련성에 대한 탐색적 연구: MMPI-2를 중심으로

An exploratory study of the association between teaching and personality tests and mental health problems: Focusing on the MMPI-2

본 연구는 예비교원을 대상으로 실시하는 교직 적․인성 검사가 정신건강문제를 검증하는데 있어 타당도가 어떠한지 탐색적으로 알아보는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 교직 적․인성 검사에 합격한 교육대학원생 35명을 대상으로 MMPI-2를 실시하였다. 분석방법은 소척도 간 상관분석과 군집분석을 사용하였다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 교직 적․인성 검사의 일부 소척도는 연구자가 예상한 대로, 정신건강문제와 부적으로 관련되거나 유의한 관련성이 없는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 교직 적․인성 검사 14개 척도 중 9개 척도에서 MMPI-2의 Ma(경조증) 척도와 유의한 정적 관련성을 보였다. 이는 교직 적․인성 검사의 여러 척도가 경조증적 특성을 포함할 가능성을 시사한다. 셋째, 교직 적․인성 검사의 몇몇 소척도는 MMPI-2의 일부 소척도와 유의한 정적 상관을 보였다. 이는 적․인성 검사의 점수가 높을수록 정신건강문제가 상승한다는 것을 의미하며, 교직 적․인성 검사의 타당도에 결함이 있음을 시사한다. 마지막으로, 군집분석을 실시하였을 때 ‘양호한 정신건강집단’, ‘정서적 부적응 집단’, ‘자신을 좋게 보이려는 노력이 두드러진 집단’의 세 유형으로 유의미하게 구분되었다. 연구 결과를 바탕으로 교직 적․인성 검사의 개선 방향과 제한점을 제시하였다.

The purpose of this study is to explore the validity of the personality and character tests for prospective teachers in identifying mental health problems. We administered the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory-2 (MMPI-2) to 35 students of graduate school of education who had passed the Personality Test for Teaching Profession. The findings were as follows. First, Some subscales of Personality Test for Teaching Profession have been found to be negatively associated or not significantly associated with MMPI-2 as expected. Second, 9 of the 14 scales of Personality Test for Teaching Profession were significantly and positively related to the Scale 9(Ma) of the MMPI-2. This suggests that most of the Personality Test for Teaching Profession may be increased with Ma scale-assessed personality traits. Third, several scales of the Personality Test for Teaching Profession were significantly and positively correlated with some scales of the MMPI-2. This suggests that higher scores on the scales of Personality test for Teaching Profession are associated with higher levels of mental health problems, suggesting flaws in the validity of the test. Finally, three types of groups were significantly distinguished with cluster analysis: 1) ‘good mental health group’, 2) ‘emotionally maladjusted group’, and 3) ‘group with making themselves looking good’. Based on these findings, this study suggests directions for the improvement of the Personality Test for Teaching Profession and suggestions for future research.
