유아 성인지 감수성 그림책 분석

A Study on the Analysis of Gender Sensitivity Picture Books for Young Children

본 연구는 유아의 성인지 감수성 정립을 위하여 기선정된 좋은 그림책을 분석하여 유아를 대상으로 하는 성인지 그림책의 선정 기준을 알아보고, 유아교육현장에서의 성인지 감수성 교육에 활용할 수 있는 그림책에 대한 기초 자료를 제공함에 목적을 두었다. 이를 위하여 한국양성평등교육진흥원에서 선정한 성인지 그림책 14권의 글과 그림 텍스트를 중심으로 그림책의 기본 특성과 주제별 특성, 성별특성의 빈도와 백분율을 산출하고, 대표사례를 추출하여 그 의미를 분석하였다. 그 결과, 성인지 감수성 그림책은 사실그림책 장르에 해외번역본이 다수였으며, 구상적 표현의 그림유형을 띄고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 주제는 다양성 중 성역할에 대한 내용을 직접적으로 제시하였다. 분석결과, 남성아동이 여성아동보다 많이 그려졌으며, 남녀 모두 놀이 및 여가생활 등장배경과 전문가 및 관련종사자의 직업특성이 많은 것으로 나타났다. 그림책을 보다 심층적으로 분석한 결과, 주제나 성별 빈도 등에서 나타나지 않았던 성역할 고정관념에 대한 인식이 그림책의 그림 텍스트에 여전히 녹아 있음을 알 수 있었다는 점에서 유아 대상의 그림책을 만드는 이와 그림책을 선정하는 이 모두에게 보다 면밀한 기준점이 필요함을 시사한다.

This study analyzed previously selected picture books to establish the sensitivity of children's gender. The purpose of this study was to determine the criteria for selecting gender-sensitive picture books for young children and to provide basic data for picture books that can be used for gender-sensitive education in the field of early childhood education. To this end, we calculated the frequency and percentage of the basic characteristics, subject-specific characteristics, and gender characteristics of 14 gender-sensitive picture books selected by the Korean Institute for Gender Equality Promotion And Education and extracted representative cases. As a result, it was found that the majority of the gender sensitive picture books were translated overseas in the factual picture book genre and had a pictorial type of figurative expression. The theme directly presented the content of gender roles among the sub-standards of diversity. Looking at the frequency of gender, male children were drawn more than female children, and both men and women had a lot of play and leisure life backgrounds and occupational characteristics of experts and related workers. As a result of an in-depth analysis of the picture books, it was found that the perception of gender role stereotypes, which did not appear in the subject matter or gender frequency, was still incorporated in the picture text of the picture books. Therefore, this study suggests that a more thorough reference point is needed for both those who make picture books for young children and those who select the picture books.
