유아를 위한 장애 관련 그림책에 포함된 장애에 대한 편견 분석

Analysis of prejudices towards disabled people shown in children's picture books

본 연구는 장애 관련 유아 그림책에서 유아들이 제거할 수 있는 편견은 무엇이며, 갖게 할 수 있는 잠재적 편견은 무엇인지를 분석하는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 장애를 가진 인물이 등장하는 유아용 그림책 중 생활동화 장르에 속하는 그림책 17권을 선정하였으며, Siller(1969)가 주장한 7가지 장애인에 대한 편견 척도(무조건적 거부, 왜곡된 동일시, 추론된 정서장애요인, 손상되지 않은 타 기능의 제한 요인, 권위적인 태도, 친교의 거부, 접촉 시 긴장요인)에 의거하여 분석하였다. 그 결과, 유아를 위한 장애 관련 그림책에서 유아들이 제거할 수 있는 편견은 왜곡된 동일시, 추론된 정서장애요인, 손상되지 않은 타 기능의 제한 요인, 권위적인 태도, 친교의 거부, 접촉 시 긴장요인으로 나타났고, 그림책에 존재하는 잠재적 편견으로는 왜곡된 동일시, 권위적인 태도, 친교의 거부로 분석되었다.

The purpose of this study is to analyze prejudices towards disabled people in children's picture books. 17 samples are chosen from the picture books that have one or more characters with some disabilities. The questions of this study are as follows: 1. What are prejudices towards disabled people which children can eliminate by reading picture books? 2. What are prejudices towards disabled people which are found in children's picture books? The frame of analysis for this study is based on the Siller's DFS(Disability factor scale), which is categorized by seven general negative attitudes in society towards disabled people. The seven negative attitudes of DFS are generalized rejection, distressed identification, inferred emotional consequences, imputed functional limitation, authoritarian virtuousness, rejection of intimacy, and interaction strain. The results of this study are as follows: 1. The prejudices that children are able to eliminate through children's picture books are distressed identification, inferred emotional consequences, imputed functional limitation, authoritarian virtuousness, rejection of intimacy, and interaction strain. 2. Based on the analysis of other prejudices are found in children's picture books, these books include the prejudices of distressed identification, authoritarian virtuousness, and rejection of intimacy.
