초등학교 저학년 동화 문체 분석 - 권정생의 <강아지똥>을 중심으로 -

A Study on the Style of Children’s Story for the Lower Grades

본고는 권정생의 <강아지똥>을 어학적 문체론의 단위인 음운론, 어휘론, 통사론, 의미론으로 나누어 문체적 특성에 대해 살펴보고, 독자의 연령에 따른 독서 발달 단계를 중심으로 한 독자 요인을 함께 고려하여, 동화의 어학적 문체 특성과 독자와의 관련성에 대해 살펴보고자 한다. 분석으로 도출된 <강아지똥>의 문체는 음독에 효과적인 구어적인 표현과 리듬감을 느낄 수 있는 다양한 반복, 내용의 이해가 용이한 다양한 길이와 여러 유형의 문장, 청자지향적 종결체, 문법보다 의미를 중심으로 한 표기 등이 나타나 초등학교 저학년의 독서 발달 단계에서 제시한 특성과 많은 부분이 일치한다. 지금까지 아동용 동화에서 문체에 대한 언급은 특정 작가나 작품을 중심으로 이루어지거나 동화 장르의 특성을 정의하는 내용에 덧붙여 매우 포괄적이고 간략하게만 제시되었다. 앞으로 아동용 동화의 내용적인 면 뿐 아니라 문체를 포함한 언어학적 분야에 있어서의 고민 또한 반드시 필요하며, 연령대별 아동용 동화 문체를 각각의 대상 독자 연령대와 관련하여 분석하는 연구가 뒤따라야 할 것이다.

This study divides “Puppy Poo” by Kwon-Jeongsaeng into units in linguistic stylistics of phonology, lexis, syntax and semantics, and looks into the stylistic characteristics. Then it examines the impact of linguistic stylistic characteristics in children’s stories on their readers with regard to the readers' stages of reading development. The style of "Puppy Poo" observed in analysis exhibits colloquial style which is effective for reading. This style includes various repetitions with rhythms, sentences in various lengths and various forms that are easy for comprehension, hearer directivity ending style, and marks focusing on meanings rather than grammar. Thus it quite consistent with the characteristics from the appropriate stage of reading development. The studies on the styles of children’s stories have focused on specific authors or works, or have provided very comprehensive and concise explanations in addition to defining the characteristics of genre. In the future, there should be further consideration on linguistic area including not only the contents but also style of children’s stories. Continuous study on the style of children’s story by age group in relation to the age of readers should follow.
