한국창작그림책에 나타난 아동의 주도성 분석

The Analysis of Children's Initiative in Korean Picture Books

아동들이 좋아하는 문학작품 속에 나타난 아동들의 세계는 아동독자와 성인작가들이 공동으로 이해하는 방식으로 그려지며, 당대의 아동에 대한 사회적 이해를 반영하게 된다. 본 연구는 문학작품, 특히 그림책 속의 글과 그림에 담겨진 한국 아동의 세계가 시대적 흐름에 따라 어떻게 변화되고 있는가를 알아보기 위한 것이다. 이를 위해 1995년부터 2007년 1월까지 출판된 총 63권의 한국창작그림책에 나타난 아동의 주도성을 분석하였다. 아동의 주도성에 대한 분석은 이야기의 서술자의 시점, 해결되어야 할 문제와, 문제해결자, 문제해결경로와 방법, 문제해결 결과 등을 기준으로 삼았으며, 또한 장르별, 시대별 변화 추이도 살펴보았다. 연구 결과, 한국의 창작그림책에서 2000년대를 넘어서면서 점차 아동자신이 화자가 되고 문제해결의 과정에서 주도적인 역할을 하는 이야기의 비율, 특히 여자아이들의 비율이 높아졌음을 알 수 있었다. 즉, 그림책 속에서의 아동은 문제해결에 있어 수동적이고 나약함을 보였던 것에서부터 다양한 경로와 방법을 동원하여 스스로 문제를 해결하고 수용하는 방향으로의 변화를 보여주었다. 이는 아동과 여성의 고유한 목소리와 세계에 대해 인정하고, 다양성을 추구하는 한국 사회의 문화적 변화가 한국 창작그림책에도 반영된 것으로 해석된다.

The attractive works of children’s literature have a common ground in which children and adults communicate with each other as readers and writers. It also reflects on how the people of its time and its culture understand the world of children. This study was to investigate how Korean authors understand the world of children through analyzing the initiatives of children in the pictures and texts of the picture books. For this purpose, we have analyzed the initiatives of children that appear in a total of 63 volumes of Korean picture books that have been published during the years of 1995 to January 2007. The criteria of evaluating the initiatives of children were the type of point of view, the gender of the person who takes an important role, the problem solver of the task, the process and method of problem solving, and the result of success or failure. The yearly changes of those elements have also been analyzed. The initiatives of children, after the year 2000, in especially female children, were yearly increasing in Korean picture books. Those results indicated that the voices of children and females in Korean society have increased gradually.
